Minimum requirements
General Minimum Requirements
  • All applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Audiology
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as an Audiologist
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office packages (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Valid code 08 driver’s license AND
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience as an Audiologist
Minimum Requirements for Senior Lecturer
  • A PhD Degree in a relevant discipline
  • Evidence of appropriate teaching experience in a relevant field at the tertiary level
  • Evidence of current and sustained research publication record in quality scientific journals, appropriate for the level
  • A track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at Masters and/or PhD levels, appropriate for the level AND
  • Demonstrated ability to apply for research grants, either as the Principal Investigator or as a member of a team
Minimum requirements for Lecturer 
  • A Master’s degree in the relevant discipline
  • Experience in teaching and learning, and assessment practices in a relevant field at a tertiary institution
  • Ability to make the necessary preparation and coordination of various teaching and examination schedules within the Discipline AND
  • Evidence of involvement in community engagement programs
A successful candidate at the Lecturer level will be expected to complete a PhD within 5 years of the date of assumption of duty Specialization in aural rehabilitation, cochlear implants and AVT training would be an advantage Experience in student training and research supervision would be an advantage

Job description
 
The incumbent of this post will be straddling two functions both of which involve providing support to the undergraduate and postgraduate students. Part of the duties will involve that of an Academic Development Officer (ADO) who is required to provide academic support to students from all schools especially with regard to academic development and student monitoring and support. The other part of the duties will involve teaching administration which will inter alia include administration of modules, assistance with examinations at hospital(s) and/or on campus (where relevant), providing support to students based at the relevant hospitals and providing a liaison service between the College, Schools and the hospitals.
 
Minimum requirements
 
  • Matric/Grade 12/Senior Certificate
  • A relevant undergraduate degree in Health sciences or Natural Sciences
  • Three years relevant experience in Academic Development and Administration
  • Proven computer literacy in MS Word, Excel
  • Proven experience in the use of SMS or equivalent student mark management system
Essential Requirements:
  • A high level of understanding of spoken and written communication in both English and isiZulu
  • Knowledge of health-related disciplines
  • Proven experience in assisting students and staff with teaching/learning issues
  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently
  • Ability to work with limited supervision AND
  • Ability to use sound judgement and own initiative to resolve problems
  • Familiarity with the academic monitoring programme of the University and the Schools AND
  • Familiarity with the student support mechanisms in the University and the Schools
